The end customer chooses the service
The topic of ‘customer service’ has often come up with us. It can easily be overlooked when demand is high. Occasionally, it’s worth putting yourself in the shoes of the end customer. Because as much as everyone’s expectations may differ, in the end, everyone wants the provider where they are best taken care of. Know-how is no longer necessarily the deciding factor; it’s about the entire consulting experience, which begins with the first impression, usually online.
The importance of digital corporate representation
In November, a PV provider comparison on Erfahrer.com highlighted what matters in an online presence. Overall, the test promises end customers an overview of the processes, consulting quality, and offer structure of various German energy service and installation companies. The companies’ own websites were directly the first criterion for comparison. According to the e-portal, company websites should ideally offer, in addition to technical details, background information, range of offers, functionality, and legal framework, a solar calculator.

- Preview the LP onboarding experience – you can now preview the exact workflow each LP will experience. With new testing tools, you can audit the workflow step-by-step by setting an investor entity, viewing dynamic questions, auto-filling them with mock data, and generating a ‘final’ document with the test data.
- Added onboarding visibility for investors – when an LP is filling out a transaction, they can now view a list of required or associated documents in the left-hand sidebar, providing added transparency and the option to preview or download supporting files.
- Track LP onboarding progress at a glance – GPs can now see the remaining steps in an LP transaction directly from the Transactions dashboard by hovering over a deal to view a detailed breakdown.
We also surveyed end customers
We took the comparison as an opportunity to also ask two end customers what they actually expect from an energy service/installation company. This resulted in some interesting insights.
1. What motivates you to purchase a PV system?
Primarily, it still has economic reasons; I want to save on my electricity costs. Additionally, I want to be less dependent on power companies in general, and charging my electric car also plays a big role.
2. Do you see an increase in the use of renewable energy in your surroundings/acquaintances?
It’s progressing somewhat. Despite everything, there is still a lot of potential for expansion in my environment.
3. What is generally important to you when choosing an energy service provider/installer?
I especially want know-how on the topic of control and optimal use of the generated electricity. I want the energy service provider to advise me comprehensively, even beyond the installation.
4. How do you go about researching an energy service provider/installer?
I have to admit that I still place a lot of value on recommendations from my surroundings. In the second step, I then research regional companies online.
